If you or someone you know needs to go to rehab or drug detox there are some serious things to consider. Just like hospitals and doctors, not all drug abuse treatment centers are the same.
Often times people who are dependent on drugs or alcohol come across issues of feeling "less than". These issues can stand in the way of getting the best help available. Do not let this happen to you. Here are three things to keep in mind when choosing a rehab.
1. Ask about their reputation. Too many times people choose a rehab because it is the only one they feel is available. As a result they forget to ask questions. Ask about a facilities success rate, employee turnover rate and any positive reviews from past clients or reviewing agencies. It is not WRONG to ask questions it is INTELLIGENT. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
2. How much one on one time with councilors will you get? It is really easy to get lost in the pack. The likely hood of this happening increases dramatically when a rehab offers a disproportionate amount of group time as compared to one on one counseling sessions. A good ratio is 1 counseling session for every 3 groups. Any less than that and you'll run the risk of becoming a number.
3. Find out about their rules before you go. Drug treatment often takes place in a very strict setting. The daily regiment is designed to bring structure to the treatment plan and structure to your life. Sometimes facilities can go overboard. Find out what their policies are before you get there, if it doesn't sound right for you, go on to the next one.
