Addiction to Worry

that worry

Carole started counseling with me because she was depressed. She had been ill with chronic fatigue syndrome for a long time and believed her depression was due to this. In the course of our work together, she became aware that her depression was actually coming from her negative thinking - Carole was a constant worrier. Many words out of her mouth centered around her concerns that something bad might happen. "What if I never get well?" "What if my husband gets sick?" "What if I run out of money?" (Carole and her husband ran a very successful business and there was no indication that it would not go on being successful). "What if my son gets into drugs?" "What if my kids don't get into good colleges?" "What if someone breaks into the house?"

Addiction Recovery, The Best Kept Secret

addiction recovery

Do you remember when you first heard about AIDS? No one really knew enough about it to understand the difference between HIV and AIDS or realize that you can't contract it through casual contact? There was little research, little education, little funding, and the thought of AIDS meant a death sentence. People made rude comments about the disease. Having the disease was the punch line to jokes. It was acceptable to associate AIDS to the homosexual community. In fact, it was even acceptable to assume one homosexual if they were diagnosed positive.

Do you recall the time in American history when cancer was something we didn't talk about when someone was diagnosed? Or even, perhaps, a time when the use of racial slurs was completely accepted in the workplace and schools?

Addiction - It's The Environment

drug abuse

Why do some people get addicted to substances and others not? Do genes determine who will become addicted; is it your parents fault?

While many feel comfortable pointing the finger in the other direction, it would help to know what are the factors involved in becoming addicted.

Some people, some studies claim, are predisposed to drug addiction due to race or their grandparents. While this is interesting, it does not solve drug abuse problems. It may even prolong addictive tendencies.

The major factors involved in addiction are:

Taking addictive drugs (I'll include alcohol as a drug)

Trying to solve problems with drugs

Added Information on Natural Weight Loss, Exercise and Diet

lose weight

For everything that you want to achieve in life, you have got to have a plan and set standards on how you are going to do it. It will be very much difficult to achieve your goals without these principles; determination, patience and discipline. On another note you should be realistic and honest to yourself.

Weight loss is easy when you integrate hypnosis and coaching. It is a part of the equation for many women, but much more important is feeling a sense of control over one's body and one's health. Weight loss is a health and fitness issue, which is a lifestyle issue, one that is quite manageable if handled right. Weight loss is simple, 'burn more calories than you consume'. If you can fully understand that then you are on your way to losing weight.

ADD-ADHD - Can it Be Treated With Diet, Discipline, and Will Power

There are many different opinions about ADD/ADHD and even some who believe that ADD/ADHD is a behavior or lack of parent skill problem, which can be solved by instruction. And this can be true. In raising children we learn that life will often give us the final examine before we learn the lesson. So the chance of being wrong is increased. And the symptoms are similar between a ADD/ADHD and misbehaving child.

There does seem to be some evidence that some food dyes, too much sugar or caffeine and other food abuses can affect a child behavior. Of course a good diet is a good diet regardless whether we are children or adults. And part of good health with or without ADD/ADHD is eating correctly.

Added Benefits of Strength Training

strength training

The bodybuilding and fitness community often times focuses on specific muscle groups and exercises without specifically considering the benefits that can be appreciated by implementing strength training and related aspects to their overall fitness program. These benefits of strength training extend to beyond the gaining of lean muscle mass and can go a long way in aiding with increased metabolism, joint and bone health and the reduction of injury too.

Implementing an effective strength training routine into a regular workout regime is not that difficult, it does however require specific attention to a number of areas if one is to get the optimal results and maximum benefit from including such an option. A complete approach is required in terms of focusing on all major muscle groups in order to avoid the potential of any imbalanced results, which in turn may well affect one in terms of healthy and correct posture. To this end if one is uncertain then utilising the services of a professional trainer, or qualified individual to setup a suitable program is suggested. This may also aid one in getting to know the routines and conducting them correctly for the maximum benefit of such a program.
